Partnerships with Parents

We believe that a good relationship between home and school is essential. We want the very best for your child and need your help and support to achieve this. There are many ways in which we seek to develop our home-school links; these are just some of them!

Parent Helpers
Many of our parents hear readers, some help with swimming, art days, trips and sports events. We never say no to an offer of help and we are very pleased to welcome parents into school.

Home School Agreement
We will ask you to sign our Home School Agreement, this gives details of our commitment to you and your child and the ways in which you can help us as parents.

Parent/Teacher Consultations
Consultation Evenings are held regularly through the year, when your child’s progress and any concerns that may have arisen are discussed .  Children’s targets are also shared and reviewed at these meetings, including the results of any assessments that have been undertaken. In the Summer Term we have ‘Pupil Led Learning Reviews’ when children discuss their progress over the year with their parents.

Annual Written Report
Annual written reports are sent to parents at the end of the spring term. This gives parents and pupils a summary of their progress that year and also sets targets to be achieved from the summer term onwards.

Parents are welcome to call into school to see either a teacher or Mrs. Young. However, it is a good idea to arrange an appointment via the office so that there is enough time to discuss matters with you properly.

Homework
Homework plays an essential part in reinforcing and extending children’s learning. We believe that it is a valuable way of developing home-school partnerships and is an opportunity for parents to become involved in their child’s learning.  It also helps children to develop independent study skills, which helps to prepare them for their secondary education. Homework is set regularly and we expect our children to complete the work on time. A homework timetable is sent home in September to show when work is set and due back at school. This is in addition to daily reading at home and learning of spellings and tables.

Change of Address or Contact Number
It is most important that the school is kept informed of your current home address, work address and relevant telephone numbers in case of emergency.  Please let the school know immediately if any of your contact details change, especially mobile phone numbers.
